ASF Vrs All Else?

You get the drift.

ASF Vrs All Else?

Postby bdickj on Fri Jul 11, 2008 7:03 pm

Is this the correct forumla?

ASF vs. ASF: Always use Initiative order.
ASF vs. ASF + SL: ASF goes first
ASF vs. All Else: ASF goes first
ASF + SL vs. All Else: ASF+SL goes first.

ASF = Always Strikes First
SL = Strikes Last

Seems to be correct though some people believe the following is true

ASF vs ASF + charging = ASF + charging goes first.

They get this from the wording of the FAQ regarding ASF and great weapons. The part about ASF canceling its self.

But I think if you use rules as writtting its:

ASF vs ASF + charging = Initiative order

I think this is because the FAQ only deals with great weapons (striking last) and nothing else. It can't be applied to charging as people would like to.

However, we all know that rules as written is useless ;)

The first one is questionable. I read the FAQ as ASF vs. ASF cancels and use normal charge sequence.

Second point I assume is reference to Executioners Axe + ASF banner? I guess since they cancel now you don't need to 4+ it. This is important because of above point. If you use normal charge sequence the Axe would still go first (since SL has no effect on the charge), but if you use Ini. then it would go last.

Point 3, except for impact hits.

Point 4, I think you have to 4+ the SL model except when charging.

A. When two models with the ASF rule are
fighting, they will strike in descending
Initiative order, rolling a dice in case of same
Initiative. All other factors, such as charging,
great weapons, etc., are ignored, because they
have already been bypassed by the ASF rule.
