Black Tongue

You get the drift.

Black Tongue

How exactly does this thing work? I played two games against Joe today and he killed my mage 1st turn both games (just my shitty luck as usual). But I cast a spell, he dispelled it with a scroll, then used the Tongue. After reading it though I don't think it works that way. It reads:

"...can be used to convert an unsuccessful spellcasting roll into a miscast."

Seems to me that the *roll* has to unsuccessful, not the spell casting. I mean even if its scrolled the roll was still successful right?

This is really a huge point. I mean Joe managed to kill my 466pt mage turn one... I cast comet he scrolled and I roll a 4 on the miscast, he gets a 3 on the puppet... game over. If it does work that way then I can't see any point in taking magic anymore. Between Tongue/Puppet and Ring of Hotek you can kill your mage so easily.

Also Joe, tongue does an auto wound when you use it. Probably wouldn't have made a difference in either of our games, except for the half points.

I forgot about the Puppet wound, but that didnt matter you killed the Exalted both times (game 1 you ran his unit down, game 2 you swallowed him with that Tzeentch spell)

With the Puppet miscast rule, i thought it was just an "unsuccessful" spell attempt. I didnt think the actual dice roll mattered, i read it as either successful (spell goes off) or unsuccessful (spell doesnt go off). If you scroll it, its still an unsuccessful roll as the spell does not go off...

Maybe i interpreted the rule wrong, dunno. Anyone?

i don't think it can be used against someone if you're using a scroll. that would make it rediculous and i don't believe it's their intent...

oh god... i mention intent... where's ed when you need him. lol
