Corsair Frenzy Banner?

You get the drift.

Corsair Frenzy Banner?

Postby mkistler on Wed Aug 06, 2008 11:37 pm

Ok so this banner makes the Corsair unit Frenzied. So if you join characters to the unit they get frenzied right? I would say yes.

If the characters leave the unit are they still frenzied? I would say yes again, they don't lose frenzy except by losing combat.

So lets say the Corsairs are frenzied, then lose combat and lose frenzy. Later on a character joins the unit. Does *he* become frenzied? Tough one. Doesn't matter to me either way, just one of those oddball things that could pop up.

I dont know about the character leaving, i would assume since the banner makes him frenzy once he is no longer with the unit the banner does not effect him so he wouldnt no longer be frenzied.

RAW he probably stays frenzied but it can go either way...

The unit grants the character the ability, same as if magic was cast on the spell and the character leaves the unit, say ogres for example. I have to choose who goes with the spell...so if the character leaves the unit, for the most part I keep it on the unit, he is no longer granted the bonus.

I would say that since the banner can't leave with the character, he would not gain the effects, even though you could not loose frenzy unless you lose combat, but those words are assumed that you were frenzy to begin with.

Yeah... add me to the voices which say that you can't take a dip in the frenzy pool and come out wet. Just seems too games to me. The effects of other magic (spells, for example) are gone when a character leaves the unit. (so if I flames-of-the-phoenix a unit, the character can leave and doesn't have to worry about the effect) I would say that since it's a magical banner and not an innate frenzy, it also goes away.

I disagree. It's the same as casting death frenzy on a unit with an assassin. The spell is NOT RIP, so it is an instantaneous effect that effects all models in a unit. Frenzy is different from flames of the phoenix and whatnot. Frenzy is never lost until you lose combat. Just because you alwk away from your frenzied uniteers doesn't mean you aren't subject to the rules for frenzy, until you lose combat.

Losing combat is not defined as being the only way that something can lose frenzy. Isn't there an item that gets rid of frenzy, hatred, etc.?

I'm of the mind that the banner gives frenzy to the unit. If you're not with the banner, you don't get frenzy.

There is one other item that makes you lose frenzy, which is the world dragon banner. Other than that, you lose it when you lose combat, unless someone can point to specific rulings otherwise, I don't think you guys are right.

I think the elven standard of balance also makes units touching it lose frenzy.

Also, how's this dark elf banner work? Is it that they're frenzied at the start of the game? Say they lose a combat, but don't break. They lose frenzy. Fine. Then they win the combat and run down the enemy. They still have their banner. Do they get frenzy back?

I wonder about that myself. Which is why I ask if the unit loses frenzy but a character joins it later on.
