Joe, if I were going to get a decent but cheap starter gun for my kids, what should I be looking at?

Tippmanns. The guns are really reliable, and pretty cheap. For a starter gun i would say a Tippmann 98 and there are a shitload of upgrades too.

After that you can alway hit up an Tippman A-5.

Are they going to be playing in the woods?

Yeah a 98 is the standard for a cheap reliable gun. That said, what is your definition of cheap? You can get a high quality gun with gear for $300-400 range online. Or just get the gun for $300 and get some cheap gear at Wal-mart.

Tippman is what I have. I then 150 in upgrades but even without them it's a good gun. It's much better for playing in the woods than at a speedball field.
