Forgive me if I am out of line or posting in the wrong place.

For those who don't know me my name is Eric. I am the Founder of HQ though haven't been an officer for several years. I was a regular on the tournie circuit years ago and know many of the "old" guard. I was around for the infamous PUNK'd affair and in fact played Kistler's 40k Slaanesh at Baltimore and Punk'd him after blowing up two rhinos with Death or Glory.

I took Aaron to his first GT and can say that I was probably one of if not his very first opponent.

I (HQ) along with the 'mongers were the original NEWCC clubs, though Matt et al did the lion's share of organizing that first tiny NEWCC. It was much harder back then to find as much club solidarity as there is today.

I dropped out of things some years back due to some real life drama, the same holds for Raul and JP. We were the heart of HQ's hardcore tournie players. While HQ members attend tournies it has long since not been the focus of the club. Just our evolution...

I don't want to go into whatever water has already gone under the bridge, I have chosen to steer my life away from drama and negativity.

What I want to say is that I truly believe there was no malice aforethought in what may appear to be an exclusion of the Johnson's. The worst outcome here would be animosity between clubs and rivalries that transcend the gaming table.

Whether right/wrong or indifferent I truly do understand your feeling snubbed and I do feel bad about that. Also understand I'm not speaking in an official NEWCC capacity but I know the parties involved and HQ is and will always be my baby.

I'm not here trying to offer explanations or justifications, I'll leave that to others. I just want to extend the branch in the hopes that when we meet across the table we meet as people sharing a passion for a common interest and that we can enjoy a cold one together while talking who beat down who...

My apologies if this is intrusive, unwelcome or misplaced...

Thanks Eric. There is no animosity between us. I think your post is appropriate. There are always those who will seek to puff things up beyond what they are.

Let me say this plainly; we are going to run an event for people that want to play fantasy. If this includes some of the clubs HQ did not invite to the NEWCC, then it is by coincidence. We aren't snubbing HQ, and in fact, we sent two of our members to HQ to win the NEWCC last year, so they could represent. We would do it again.


I think what this really boils down to is a few people taking this hobby too seriously, as if we are standing out in front of the NEWCC with signs saying "Fuck NEWCC, come play with us!" which obviously isn't the case.

I appreciate your comments, and I hope anyone from HQ that has anything to say would do the same- we are all friends here, so we should act like it, and feel free to express concern over these matters.

As for the naysayers, they will do as they always do- turn it into something it's not, and blow it out of proportion.

But I thank you Eric, and I appreciate you commenting on these matters.

Yes Eric, agreed. While it is a bit of a snub that we were not invited I know that its only a personality conflict between two people, not a club rivalry. If HQ needed to borrow some Johnsons for a team tournament we would happily loan ourselves out again, assuming we had our own team of course!

Like I said in the other thread, this is fantasy tournament, not 40k, and we are not trying to ruin NEWCC with it. Since NEWCC and the whole club thing has become quite big in the past few years the 20 man, 5-team thing that HQ is doing this year seems rather small. So we are trying to organize a tourney for all the teams that were a) not invited or b) can't attend because they don't play 40k.

Consider that when HQ last ran NEWCC there were 10 teams of 5! I'm sure you could get that much interest again, but if the club chooses not to its ok. No hard feelings.
