My High Elves

Postby MantisZero on Fri Mar 07, 2008 8:29 pm

I agree with the bad batches... i would say out of the 25-30 bottles i own, 3 of them were way too watery to use.

But they work really well, and i like the eye-drop bottles.

FUCK GW FLIP CAPS!!!

Foundation paints are thicker than valejo with a similar pigment content. I haven't tried the foundations yet, but I'd be surprised if they're better than valejo.

I get some watery Vallejos now and then. I've been using those Reaper paints to fill in where the Vallejos don't work, and they are pretty nice. They are like the old old GW paints.

He's coming for you... ALL of you. Now, if he had only made his terror check against that last Varghulf. :(

Thanks! I got a package in the mail TODAY... my shiny-red-powdercoated air intake with a HUGE red air filter... and I had to put it down to go paint!!!! Ugh!!!! Oh well.

Got any new pics of your elves? I'd hope they're almost done, as you only have a week to go!!!!

I drybrushed the eagle with a coat of blue... like a month ago!

I am not going to get the army done... if anything, there will be just 3 base colors on each model.

I traded a Tomb King army into Showcase last year and a friend bought it, he is going to let me use it for Colonial if i need it, so thats what i will probably do. I have to check with Matt and make sure its ok, but i had plenty of time to finish the High Elves... lazyness wins again.

So i "painted" an eagle tonight and painted a banner for a swordmaster so i could use it as a unit filler, so i have to paint less models! The eagle is poop, but i drybrushed it and finished it in like 15 mins so... yeah.

So now i have 6 Princes (horses have some paint) and 5 Reavers (black) and a Swordmaster base to do. They will be getting base coats and 3 colors, i dont want to rush them and ruin the models.

I also have to do 3 movement trays to finish.

I dont plan on winning any painting awards so i am not even going to do a board, just use a Kmart tray!!!

Great Stuff guys!

Nidal - Awesome model! i was toying around with the same idea for eagles myself. Did you use dark pegesus wings on that bad boy?

Joe - The army is coming out great! I like the color sceme alot. What did you use for the base on the eagle? Is that cork board or something else?

It's a cold-one body (obviously). The tail is one of the claws from the cut-off foot. It just looked so much better than leaving it plain. The wings are dark-pegasus wings. The whole process from start to finish is on page 28 of my blog. No, really, it is.

http://warmongerboard.yuku.com/topic/920

I still need to make the base nice, and in the future, I'm going to go back and highlight the scales on the eagle and the wyrms some more.

The thing that I'm pissed about is that you can't buy bits anymore, so if I want to make another one to match, I have to buy a whole dark peg?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?! GRRRRRRRRR.....
