Saw District 9 tonight... there are no words to describe the awesomeosity of this movie. Its the best Sci-Fi movie I've seen in 20 years. You have to go back to like Total Recall or Blade Runner to find something this good, and this film has way bigger balls.

Don't want to give to much away, but heres a quick plot synopsis:

Aliens land over Johanesburg back in the 80's. They are stuck here for some reason (ran out of fuel I think) and humans take them down to the surface to live. They are set up in these slums and quickly become oppressed second class citizens. Crime develops, poverty, etc.

Fast forward 20 years and the corporation in charge decides to ship these aliens out of the city into what are effectively concentration camps. From there all hell brakes loose. Can't so much more the badassitude will rock your balls off.

The humans use every cool gun you can think of, MP5, Desert Eagle, M16, AK 47 and 74u, G3, and then the big stuff, SAW, Minigun, RPG, and yes, some dude shoots aliens with a Barret .50 cal!!!!

The aliens have every video game weapon you can think of. They have the gravity gun from Half Life 2, Plasma guns, Force Guns, Flamer Throwers, Lightning guns, oh my.

And the gore, oh my the gore. Dudes get shot with lightning guns and explode, aliens SAW'd in half, gravity gun shoots pigs and toilets and people, limbs blasted off by force weapons.

Remeber that gay ass movie that came out earlier this year called Terminator Salvation? And it sucked? That movie wishes it could be this good. District 9 makes T:Salvation look a steaming pile of shit, even more then it did.

See this movie now. Anyone who likes sci-fi, or has played video games, or just likes good movies owes it to themselves to see this movie.

Do it!! DO it now!!!

I saw it, it was fucking awesome.

Cool setup, I thought it was very realistic in concept. A corp is put in charge of a group no one likes. A cheap item is found to be highly addictive in the alien and there taken advantage of by African malitias etc...

Then some twists and turns and then awesome ass fight scene.

Just remember kiddies don't touch the alien jet fuel!

I loved it.

Spoiler alert:

Here's my read of it: they intentionally were vague about why they were stuck here, but I'm thinking that the 'illness' killed off the 'command' prawn. The main alien and his son were both green, and the only green ones we saw, and they made a point of showing they were more intelligent than the rest. Notice he seemed to be physically inferior to the rest as well.

But the lighnting bolt guns were LeAWESOME.
