I got back into 40k recently with a Chaos army and I noticed that in 40k, as well as Fantasy, many people bitch endlessly about mixing gods in chaos armies. Why? I fail to see why this is considered lame, abusive, or whatever people decide to call it.
The biggest complaint I hear is that its against the fluff, but that fluff does not exist anymore. The gods hating each other was old, and while maybe us guys that have been around forever know about it, new players would have no knowledge of the old stories. Besides who really follows the fluff when making a list?
The other big complaint is game balance, as if putting a Tzeentch mage in a Slaanesh unit is so game breaking. Axe of Khorne on a mage? You monster!
Really I just don't get it. Its like the people bitching about the government "keeping their hands off my medicare!" WTF?
I have been playing Chaos since I started this game and I say good riddance to bad rules. Remember 5th edition demons where opposing gods units' would actually fight each other? Sure it may have been fluffy but it was terribly unbalanced, you never saw mixed god demons. Same with Mortals, mixing marks was always so restrictive that you rarely saw any mixed armies. Hell even last edition demons were rarely mixed, and the mono god lists were the power builds.
If you want to argue the game balance issue that's all well and good, but the fact that Demons have really good rules has nothing to do with mixing gods. Look at Warriors, you can mix marks and have it be balanced.
I don't get it. What do you guys think?
