Has anyone ever tried this Sky Earth Non Metallic Metal technique?

My Silver NMM is getting an F this semester and I think I need to switch it.

It continues to look like stone...and im getting really frustrated, which is the worst when you paint. My NMM gold is at ike a B+ but it will look like ass because of the beards are kind of blonde...so maybe SE-NMM?

I have tried b4. Its really not all that hard, but you need the right colors for it. and it definately works alot eaiser on some objects than others. Here are some ref pics (not mine):

Ummm, no way. I can't even get NMM right, let alone sky-earth effect. To much work for what it is IMO. If you are painting a Golden Demon model go for it, for a gamers army fuck that.
