Can you put the Malachi Crunch on VC?

1. Invocation allows you to bring back models in a strict order. Summoned models go in the rear rank.

2. Per the FAQ, summoned models MAY be placed into contact with the enemy (for example if they were engaged in the rear), but NOT within 1" of other enemy units.

3. So lets say I engage a 20 man Skeleton unit + Vampire in the front, and both flanks, with Spearmen. I then cleverly fly some Harpies directly in the rear of the unit, 1" away.

The Spearmen win the combat, and reduce the VC unit to 10 models.

The VC player of course wants to raise the shit out of the unit. Beyond starting strength so he doesn't lose combat again. Yet as the unit strength reaches 20 models, any additional models placed would come within 1" of the Harpies.

So you can't add anymore models right?

Kinda tricky to pull off if I am right, but could be helpful.

You are correct. They can't add the models.

Yep, it's awesome, unlike playing against VC.

And you don't have to engage the flanks. The unit has to expand backwards, so if you have harpies there, that's enough.

Badass! 5 harpie units just got even better!

Well it doesn't have a giant impact. Remember, you move and then fight.

So if you charge 20 skells, and kill some, he can still raise it back to the original 20 skells.

You need to find a unit that's already been gutted, then block it up. Won't happen often, but fun when it does.

A lot of VC players are already aware of the tactic. I've used it a few times on Jordan from "the super friends." He's already adjusted tactics and pretty much just raises the units to obnoxious big to compensate. He'll have his VC at 2999. I'm guessing Andre also knows about it, and just adjusts his raising ahead of time.

However I will not, when it does come up, it really nice :) i've used night runners just like you mentioned using Harpies. Then focused on preventing the raising on the unit to kill it via res when its important.
